Right now I have a script that uses the 1Password CLI to help me do this, but it's hard to roll something like that out to the whole company and a lot less convenient than having it available in the 1Password GUI. I'd assume that 1Password could invoke something like that behind the scenes? TablePlus also supports writing and executing multiple queries, you’ll need to separate them with a semicolon. It can handle several database types (postgresql, mysql, mssql, redshift, redis, mongo, etc). Then it will open a connection with those parameters in the TablePlus GUI. TablePlus is a native tool with an intuitive interface that you can use to create, query, edit and save.
TablePlus registers itself on macOS so that if you do something like this in a Terminal: open 'postgresql://username: :port/dbname' it wont work because TablePlus will connect to your local mysql instance. We deal with a lot of different databases and it would be really handy if 1Password could provide an "Open in TablePlus" button for Database items.
We've started using 1Password for secrets where I work and we also use TablePlus as a macOS database gui.
